MEMORIAL:

Jerry A. Witte, 63, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at his home.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4th at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Harlow, Pastor of Northfield Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard . Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.


Survivors include his children, Tiffany Gregerson, Tawnya (Daniel) Doster, Tara (Nicholas) Sells, Joel Witte, and Meghan (Cory Husske) Witte all of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Delaney and Dalton Gregerson, Camden and Holden Doster, Ella, Ava, and Audra Sells; sister, Cathy (Dan) Moore of Fort Dodge; brother, Keith (Jaci) Witte of Janesville, WI; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlo and Irene (Porter) Witte, brothers, Russel and Gary Witte; and his sister, Wendy Witte.


Jerry A. Witte was born on August 7, 1950 in Fort Dodge where he attended school. In 1967, he enlisted with U. S. Navy, serving during Vietnam until honorable discharge. He was united in marriage to Janine Charlson in March of 1971. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Jerry worked for Fjetlands Hardware store until 1977 when he went to work for Carnation, now called Nestle Purina. He retired as a Relief Operator in 2012. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball, and attending musical plays. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburg Steelers Fan.
