He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1968. Dale attended Iowa Central for two years, graduated from University of Northern Iowa, and later received his master’s degree from the University of Iowa. Dale taught at St. Matthew’s School in Clare for two years, and then taught middle school math and was a coach in Anamosa. During his retirement, he worked at the American Legion at Springville. Dale enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Green Bay Packers and member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed traveling with Julie and watching Nickolas and Henry when they played sports. As a final gift, Dale provided the generous gift of sight as a donation, to assist two recipients. |

My memories of Dale go all the way back to Junior High and Confirmation classes at St Olaf Lutheran. If I remember right, Dale and his family lived in the house next to the Church and his parents were the custodians for the Church properties.
We found Dale and discovered his mailing address in Anamosa. He was a school teacher and I am certain that he was a good one and lkked by students and staff alike.
I regret that we were never able to coax Dale into returning for any of our reunions. In recent years however, every time I would announce our fundraiser to honow our Class Veterans on Veterans Day, I would receive a donation in the mail from Dale. He always wanted to be a part of our project.
Several months ago, I receive a note in the mail from Dale saying that he had returned to Fort Dodge and supplied his new address. I thought that finally, we would be able to have him join us for our next reunion - but sadly, it wasn't to be.
Rest in peace Dale - A Friend, A Classmate and a DODGER, Forever!

Dale was a good person through and through. Knowing Dale through Jr. High and High School...sharing lots of classes and free time with him, I did lose touch with him after High School. I'm sure he was a great teacher...he just gave everyone that knew him a feeling of being valued as another person. Heartflet condolences to his family and everone whose lives he touched...God Bless Dale.

I had Dale in home room, was confirmed with him at St. Olaf and played church league and intramural basketball with him. Always wanted to be part of things and did his best no matter what the task was. Sam, I am pretty sure he came to one reunion but I could be mistaken. He will be missed for sure.
