Obituary from the Messenger: Michael (Mike) Eugene Hoover was born January 2, 1949, and died January 5, 2021. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1967 for 4 years, and was honorably discharged. He enlisted in the US Navy, served his country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged after 16 years. Mike then taught automotive mechanics for 20 years at a community college in Portland, OR. He then retired. Mike was united in marriage to Lavonne Johnson, and they had two children, Lisa Palermo, Chicago, IL and Jeff Hoover, Gilmore City, IA. The couple later divorced. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hoover, of Tulare, CA; father Bill Hoover, Fort Dodge; sister Susie (Rick) Rogers, Barnum, IA: and grandchildren Addison and Lucas and Colton and Lily. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Hoover. Mike was an avid motorcycle rider, builder and loved his dogs. His magnanimous spirit and hearty laugh will be missed. |
