MEMORIAL:

IOWA CITY - Mark Robert Van Gundy, 59, passed away May 6, 2010 at his home in Iowa City, IA. Funeral services will be at 12:30 PM Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Rushton officiating. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday and 11:30 to 12:30 PM Saturday at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Survivors include brothers, Dean Van Gundy of Van Meter, IA; Kent (Donna) Van Gundy of Lino Lakes, MN; sister, Gloria (Rich) Steinberg of Fort Dodge, IA; five nephews and a niece; an uncle; aunts; as well as several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Willadene Van Gundy, grandparents, a niece, and several aunts & uncles.

Mark was born September 10, 1950 in Fort Dodge, IA. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1968. He was active in Boy Scouts, Band, Orchestra and Theater. He attended college at the University of Iowa in pursuit of a business degree. He married Kathy Radie on June 19, 1971 in Fort Dodge, IA. They were later divorced.

Throughout his work career in Iowa City, Mark worked at a factory, as a bank teller, a commodity salesman and various restaurants. Mark's hobbies have included water and snow skiing; traveling to Israel, Mexico, Oklahoma to attend Bible camps, and especially enjoyed the beaches of Florida. He loved music, cars and Hawkeye football.

Mark was a man of faith and studied and lived by it all of his adult life, as he was an avid student of the Bible. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
