| The Fort Dodge Messenger December 3, 2009 Bruce Birkett, 59, died Monday, November 30, 2009, at his home in Des Moines, IA. Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Mausoleum at North Lawn Cemetery with Rev. J. Faulkner Martin officiating. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements. Bruce is survived by his sister, Donna Sue (Ralph) German of Urbandale, IA, brothers, Robert (Cec) Birkett and John (Barbara) Birkett of Fort Dodge, and a sister Beverly (Jeff) Zinnel of Manson, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Dora Birkett. Bruce was the fifth and youngest child of Donald and Dora Birkett. He was born October 9, 1950 in Fort Dodge. Bruce attended Fort Dodge Public Schools graduating in 1968. He attended and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1972. Bruce married Melinda Guenther on June 30, 1973. They were later divorced. Bruce was employed by Payless Cashways and Menards before moving to Des Moines. |
